Urijah Faber talks about FORM Athletics, Training, and more!


Urijah Faber Interview with FreakinMMA.com - FORM AthleticsWe are very grateful to Urijah for taking the time to answer some questions. He is a great ambassador of the sport! Check out his new clothing line FORM Athletics! It's SICK!

1. Can you tell us about FORM Athletics and what makes it stand out from the other fight clothing outfits that seem to be running amuck now a days?

FORM focuses on a clean style that's not too loud. It's simple and represents MMA because it was created with my input and direction as an MMA Fighter. The clothes are comfortable, stylish, and not intimidating for fans and fighters at any level.

2. I really dig the Amp Walk Out Shirt and Fight Shorts. Do you have your hands in the design or art work on the clothing?

I have the final say on all designs. The Consortium Design team creates a ton of great options and I help narrow down the final product. I feel really lucky to have designers on the cutting edge of what is cool.


3. How is your training coming along for your upcoming fight with Jose Aldo?

Hasn't really changed too much. Different things I focus on but pretty run of the mill. I've had some of my training partners mimic the Aldo's style.

4. How are your hands doing after your fights with Mike Brown?

-The hands feel great.

5. if you could fight anyone in the 155lb weight class, reguardless of what company they are under, who would you fight and why?

-I want to fight whoever the champion is at the time. It's the fight that makes the most sense for my career and the fans at home. Best case scenario would be someone who has the belt that i do not like.

6. I have heard that you don't care for Brock Lesnar. Can you enlighten us as to why?

-I respect him as a fighter but i put a lot of time trying to represent the sport well and it sucks to have someone come in and act like a meathead with so many eyes on them. It seems like he is getting better but only time will tell.

7. How did you get your big break in the WEC and how did your fighting career start?

-The WEC was acquired by Zuffa and I was the current champion. The WFA was liquidated and my fight contract was bought by Zuffa at the same time. I started my fight career shortly after I graduated from college and took a fight for 200 at a local indian casino and loved it.

8. Is there any where in your game that you feel you need to improve on as an MMA fighter?

-I feel like the most room for improvement is with my kicks, knees, and elbows. I've also added a strength training regimen that will help me improve.

9. Who is your favorite MMA fighter and why?

-I love the attitude and creativity of Sakuraba, the fighting spirit of Nick Diaz, and the Class of Randy Couture.

10. f you could choose, what 2 MMA fights would you like to see and why?

-Anderson Silva VS Fedor E. because i feel neither have really been tested. Nick Diaz VS Joe Riggs to the death because I think they tried to do it once in a hospital after they fought in the octagon.

11. Who do you think is going to win the fight between Cerrone and Henderson?

-Tough one to call but Henderson has the big man upstairs on his side........ so i will give the advantage to him

13. Can you tell us about some up and coming fighters that you know of that you're excitied to watch?

-I have 2 guys on my team. TJ DIllashaw, 135, is a Division 1 standout wrestler and had been training for the last 8 months with our team, one of the most competitive guys I've met. The other is a Golden Gloves Boxing champion and a natural at grappling and fighting, Mike Ortega. Mike is going to be the first boxer to make a very successful transition into the MMA ranks.

14. My fiance wants to know if your single and if so why?

:) I am single. Just extremely picky and looking for the perfect chick.
